President John Dramani Mahama has appointed 18 persons as deputy heads of mission — deputy ambassadors and deputy high commissioners — to Ghana’s foreign missions.

Notable among the appointees are General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, a former Chief of the Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces; and Ben Dotsei Malor, a former BBC presenter and current United Nations News Editor.

General Thomas Oppong-Peprah will serve as the deputy head of mission to Canada, while Ben Dotsei Malor has been appointed Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to the United States of America.

The other names on the list of appointments, which was signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama, include Francisca Patoah Gyarko, who has been appointed Deputy Head of Mission to the Swiss Federation; Dr Harry Zevon, Deputy Head of Mission to the People’s Republic of China; Sulemana Ibun Iddrissu, Deputy Head of Mission to the Republic of India; and Aquinas Quansah, Deputy Head of Mission to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Others on the list include George Harrison, Deputy Head of Mission to the Republic of Korea; Jamilatu Amadu, Deputy Head of Mission to the United Arab Emirates; and Emmanuel Netsey-Afedo, Deputy Head of Mission to the Netherlands.

The appointment list, which was addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, directed the facilitation of the new appointments.
