Relief for Paul Adom-Otchere as Jospong Group steps in to meet bail terms

The Jospong Group of Companies has stepped in to secure bail for Paul Adom-Otchere, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), after he failed to meet initial bail conditions set by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).In a statement issued on social media, the OSP confirmed that it had “accepted revised bail conditions proposed by legal counsel for Mr. Paul Adom-Otchere.”

It added that “the revised terms, which meet the objectives of the original bail conditions, have been secured by the Jospong Group of Companies, acting as surety.”

The development follows an earlier announcement by the OSP that Adom-Otchere had been formally charged and detained after failing to meet initial bail requirements. He was expected to provide “two landed properties (of no specific value) registered in his name,” but informed the OSP he “does not own landed property in Ghana.”That failure meant he remained in custody, unlike his co-accused, Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive of Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems, who were also charged but not reported to be in detention.

All three are being investigated in connection with a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm reportedly linked to the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).

The OSP is probing possible procurement breaches, including a sole-sourced contract awarded to a company not approved by the GACL Board.

Although the case remains under active investigation, the OSP has not disclosed a timeline for prosecution or further action. However, the acceptance of a new bail arrangement suggests the inquiry is entering a new phase.
