CAR Vs GHANA: Thomas-Asante returns as Inaki Williams misses out

Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has earned a late call-up to the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.

Thomas-Asante replaces Inaki Williams, who has been ruled out after sustaining an injury during Athletic Club’s weekend clash with Mallorca.

The in-form Championship striker, who has scored five goals and provided three assists in nine games this season, was initially left out of Ghana’s squad but now gets a recall following Inaki’s setback.

Thomas-Asante has already joined the Black Stars camp and took part in Monday’s training session. This marks his first return to the national team since featuring in the Unity Cup in May.

The Coventry star was on target twice in his side’s victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and will be looking to continue that fine form on international duty.

The Black Stars face CAR on Wednesday at 16:00GMT before hosting Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12.
