Lawyers representing the Fosuh Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have responded to complaints from Akosua Serwah Fosuh of Germany regarding the funeral and estate of late highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, known professionally as Daddy Lumba.

In a letter dated 1 October and signed by Fati Ali-Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, the legal team said it was acting on the instructions of the Fosuh family and emphasized that Fosuh had no authority to influence the handling of the late musician’s funeral arrangements.

The lawyers noted that Fosuh, who was formerly married to Daddy Lumba, declined to move to Ghana with her husband when he fell seriously ill about 15 years ago, an act the family describes as desertion. They added that she subsequently presented traditional drinks, a gesture recognized under Akan customary practice as signifying the dissolution of their marriage.

The statement also identified Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, as the late musician’s wife. The lawyers said Odo Broni lived with Daddy Lumba for more than 15 years and the couple had six children together.

Regarding the distribution of Daddy Lumba’s estate, the legal team said all assets will be managed jointly by the family and the musician’s children to ensure fair allocation, urging all parties to refrain from interfering until a legal process is completed.

The lawyers also noted that they hold instructions from Daddy Lumba prior to his death, which will guide the family on his preferred funeral arrangements and estate management.

The Fosu Royal Family called for calm and encouraged all involved parties, including Fosuh, to engage in peaceful discussions to ensure a dignified burial for the late music icon.
