Aggrieved teachers threaten demo Sept 30 over 12-month salary arrears

ACCRA – The Aggrieved Newly Posted Teachers group has issued a one-week ultimatum to the government to resolve concerns over the non-payment of salaries.

This comes after their initial deadline of September 23, which has now been extended.

The group, comprising graduates from Colleges of Education and universities, says its members have gone unpaid for 12 months and 8 months, respectively.

Despite petitioning the Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities on September 8, they say no meaningful response has been received.

Speaking to Citi News, the group’s Lead Convener, Simon Kofi Nartey, warned that members would stage a protest on September 30 if the situation persists.

“It is rather unfortunate that as we speak, nothing has been done about the concerns we raised at our press conference. We have no option but to take to the streets to let Ghanaians know what is happening. We have already met with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command and agreed on September 30 for the demonstration,” he said.
