Former Accra Mayor, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson has endorsed Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as in the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) publicly describing him as a “son” and pledged strong support for his leadership bid.

The endorsement came during a meeting in Accra on Tuesday, where Wontumi outlined his vision for the NPP and reflected on his political journey, stressing his deep connection to the grassroots.

He said his campaign is anchored on understanding ordinary party members and building strong structures at the base of the party.

“Winning elections is a collective effort, not a one-man task. I come from the grassroots and I understand their concerns, sacrifices, and expectations. Political victory is not about titles or certificates; it is about understanding and connecting with the grassroots, and no one understands them better than I do, and my mission is to get the job done,” he said.

Responding to his remarks, Mr. Blankson praised Wontumi’s loyalty to the party and offered words of encouragement, describing him in personal terms as a trusted protégé.

“I have been in politics for a very long time, and Wontumi has remained loyal and dedicated to the party. God will reward you. Listen to advice. You are my son, and I am your father,” he stated.

He went further to pledge his support for Wontumi’s bid, saying he believes in his ability to contribute meaningfully to the party’s fortunes.

“I am going to rely on you, Wontumi. He is my son, and I deeply love him. We will work hard to ensure he wins. I am happy about your loyalty and commitment to Dr. Bawumia. Your words this afternoon have deeply touched me,” he added.

Wontumi, in response, described Hon. Blankson as a respected elder whose support carries significant weight within the party, saying the endorsement reflects confidence in his ability to help the NPP regain political ground, particularly in Greater Accra.

“Hon. Blankson is entrusting Greater Accra into my hands so we can reclaim all lost seats, not only in the Ashanti Region, but across every region of Ghana,” he said.

He reiterated his ambition to lead the party to victory in 2028, promising to strengthen grassroots mobilisation across all constituencies and regions.

“I will work hard to ensure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia becomes the next President of Ghana. I will be a National Chairman for all 276 constituencies and all 16 regions. I will descend into the trenches, work hand in hand with the grassroots, and lead the party back to victory in 2028,” he assured.

The engagement forms part of Wontumi’s ongoing consultations with key party stakeholders, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and former NPP National Chairman Freddy Blay.
