Sammi Awuku Unveils MP Office, Rolls Out Youth Skills Programme in Akuapem North

The Sammi Awuku initiative has taken a major step forward in Akuapem North as the Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Awuku, commissioned a new constituency office at Mamfe and launched a comprehensive youth skills and entrepreneurship programme aimed at tackling unemployment and strengthening local governance.

The newly established Office of the Member of Parliament – Akuapem North Constituency, located in Mamfe, is strategically positioned as the central point of engagement between constituents and their parliamentary representative.

For many years, residents had to travel long distances to Accra to access their MP. The new office is expected to eliminate that challenge by bringing leadership closer to the people.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Monday, May 4, 2026, Sammi Awuku announced that he will personally operate from the office every Monday ahead of parliamentary sittings.

He stressed that the office is open to all residents, regardless of political affiliation.

“My focus is to bring leadership closer to the people and ensure that concerns affecting education, healthcare, and social welfare are addressed promptly,” he said.

The event attracted key stakeholders, including the Chief of Mamfe, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, who praised the initiative and urged residents to support development efforts in the constituency. Municipal authorities and institutional heads were also present, reflecting broad support for the project.

ANSDEP Youth Skills Programme Launched

As part of the broader Sammi Awuku initiative, the MP also launched the Akuapem North Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Programme (ANSDEP) at the Mamfe Presbyterian Hall in collaboration with Blacksmith Africa and his office.

The programme is designed to equip young people with practical, income-generating skills to promote entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment.

Under the theme “Empowering Skills, Creating Opportunities,” the initiative will train 120 apprentices in areas such as soap making, baking, catfish farming, and agro-processing.

Awuku urged beneficiaries to take the programme seriously, emphasizing discipline and commitment.

“This is your opportunity to secure your future. Nobody will build your life for you, you must take this seriously because it will become your daily bread,” he advised.

The MP also highlighted that beyond technical training, ANSDEP aims to instill values such as hard work, responsibility, and perseverance.

Traditional leaders, development partners, and facilitators all lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, calling the programme a life-changing opportunity that provides a clear path to employment and financial independence.

The Sammi Awuku initiative also builds on earlier interventions, including collaboration with the Akuapem Rural Bank to support market women at the Ofie Market. According to the MP, such programmes will be expanded to reach more residents across the constituency.

The dual rollout of a constituency office and youth empowerment programme reflects a wider strategy to combine accessible governance with practical economic development, positioning Akuapem North as a model for grassroots-driven transformation.
