Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has questioned the delay in the release of a court order remanding New Patriotic Party chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, into custody.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Mr Afenyo-Markin said the judge who ordered Abronye’s detention last week had still not released the official order.
“Today is Monday, 18th May, 2026, and the Circuit Court 9 Judge has still not released his Order remanding Abronye into BNI custody,” he wrote.
He said the ruling was delivered in open court on Wednesday, 13th May, with what he described as “consequential Orders” made at the time.
Mr Afenyo-Markin also criticised what he suggested were restrictions on public commentary about the judiciary.
“Citizens are not to complain or criticise the court. If they do, they risk contempt or referral to the General Legal Council for disciplinary action,” he said.
He added: “Abronye has been remanded into BNI custody by the Circuit Court 9 Judge until the final determination of the criminal charges brought against him by the Police.”
Ending his post with a sharp political remark, the Minority Leader wrote: “Our new RESET Ghana in motion.”
Abronye DC, who is the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, was remanded into custody in Accra earlier this month over allegations of offensive conduct and publication of false news.
The court ordered that he be held for two weeks to allow security agencies to carry out forensic investigations.
The case stems from an online video in which Abronye allegedly made derogatory remarks about a Circuit Court judge. Prosecutors say he described the judge as a “politician” rather than a legitimate judge and accused his rulings of being full of errors.
