Aspiring Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, Centence Baffour, has strongly criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following recent comments made by the party’s Kevin Taylor, which he describes as “insults and defamation” directed at former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
In a Facebook post, Baffour expressed his disappointment at what he called “the deafening silence” from the NDC over Taylor’s remarks, made three days ago.
“NDC’s Kevin Taylor insulted and defamed former President John Agyekum Kufuor three days ago, yet up till now there has been no official apology, condemnation, or disassociation from his unfortunate comments,” Baffour wrote.
He emphasized the importance of respect for national leaders, regardless of political affiliations.
“Former President Kufuor is a statesman who served Ghana with dignity, wisdom, and honor. Regardless of political differences, he deserves respect and decency.”
Baffour argued that leadership involves taking a stand against wrongdoing, criticizing the NDC for failing to respond.
“You cannot claim to preach unity and democracy while remaining silent when such disgraceful attacks are directed at an elderly statesman and former President of the Republic. The continuous silence from the NDC only raises more questions about whether they truly condemn such behavior or secretly endorse it.”
He further called for a political environment in Ghana that prioritizes maturity, respect, and issue-based discussions over insults and character attacks.
“Ghanaians deserve a political environment built on respect, maturity, and issue-based discourse, not insults, hatred, and character assassination.”
