Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup gathered fresh momentum on Thursday after six additional players reported to camp in Cardiff, swelling the squad ahead of their international friendly against Wales on June 2.

The latest arrivals — Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Abdul Mumin, Kwasi Sibo, Jonas Adjetey and Prince Kwabena Adu — all trained at Dragon Park on Thursday as the squad edge closer to full strength.

Their inclusion brings the number of players in camp to 22, with head coach Carlos Queiroz intensifying preparations for what will be Ghana’s final major test before heading to North America for the World Cup.

The arrivals add balance across the squad, with Ati-Zigi reinforcing the goalkeeping department, Sulemana, Adu and Sibo increasing attacking and midfield options, while Mumin and Adjetey strengthen defensive depth.

They join an already established group featuring Jordan Ayew, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Baba Abdul Rahman, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Christopher Bonsu Baah and Elisha Owusu, among others.

However, several key figures are still expected to arrive, including Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, Alexander Djiku, Kojo Oppong Peprah and Augustine Boakye.

With numbers rising, Queiroz is expected to ramp up tactical work over the coming days, with two training sessions scheduled for Friday as focus sharpens on the Wales encounter.

The match forms part of Ghana’s final preparations for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Ghana national football team have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, with their opening fixture against Panama set for June 17 in Toronto, before meetings with England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.

The final World Cup squad is expected to be announced on June 1.
