Accra, Ghana — The Chief Executive Officer of the Global Media Foundation (GLOMEF), Godlove Ahenu, has issued a stark warning to national leaders, urging immediate investment in youth empowerment to safeguard Ghana’s future. In a passionate appeal, he declared: “Empower the youth now or endanger the future.”
The GLOMEF boss emphasized that Ghana’s demographic reality — with young people forming the majority of the population — presents both an opportunity and a risk. He argued that failure to provide adequate education, skills training, and employment opportunities could lead to widespread frustration, social instability, and economic stagnation.
According to him, youth empowerment must go beyond rhetoric and token initiatives. It requires deliberate policies that prioritize job creation, entrepreneurship support, digital literacy, and civic engagement. He noted that Ghana’s future competitiveness depends on harnessing the energy, creativity, and innovation of its young citizens.
He further warned that neglecting youth development risks creating a generation alienated from governance and economic participation. “A nation that ignores its youth is sowing seeds of instability. The time to act is now,” he stressed.
Civil society groups have echoed his concerns, pointing out that unemployment and underemployment remain pressing challenges. Analysts argue that empowering the youth is not just a social obligation but a strategic investment in national security and economic growth.
The GLOMEF CEO’s call comes at a time when Ghana is grappling with economic recovery, debt restructuring, and the need to diversify its economy. His intervention adds urgency to the debate on how to align national policies with the aspirations of the country’s youthful population.
