Aspiring National Chairman of the NPP and Former Energy Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Boakye Agyarko, has taken his campaign tour to the North East Region, meeting with key party stakeholders to secure backing for his bid to become the next National Chairman of the party.
The high-profile engagement brought together the North East Regional Council of Elders and Patrons, constituency executives, and traditional party financiers, serving as a strategic platform for Mr. Agyarko to articulate his vision for rebuilding the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The tour comes as the opposition NPP begins its next internal reorganization cycle to elect new national leadership. As a foundational member of the party and its 2012 Campaign Manager, Mr. Agyarko is positioning himself as an institutional “rebuilder,” centering his message on restoring party discipline, healing internal cracks, and prioritizing executive welfare to re-energize a grassroots base often fatigued by national electoral cycles.
The choice of the North East Region carries immense symbolic and strategic weight for the bid. As the home region of the party’s key leadership figures and its current standard-bearer, securing an early, public commitment of goodwill from North East Regional Chairman, Chairman Fuseini Nurudeen, and the local Council of Elders signals that Mr. Agyarko’s message has deep national traction beyond his traditional regional strongholds.
Addressing the stakeholders, Mr. Agyarko emphasized the urgent need for structural reforms within the NPP, pinning his leadership agenda on the restoration of party discipline, strict adherence to institutional welfare, and deep-seated reconciliation across all levels of the party structure.
Crucially, in a bid to reassure stakeholders that his chairmanship would foster institutional stability rather than factional infighting, Mr. Agyarko affirmed his readiness to collaborate seamlessly with the party’s current leadership hierarchy, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. This alignment aims to forge an aggressive, highly efficient campaign machinery capable of steering the NPP to an electoral victory in 2028 and beyond.
Receiving the delegation, Chairman Fuseini Nurudeen praised Mr. Agyarko’s long-standing institutional loyalty and dedicated service to the party over the decades. Speaking on behalf of the regional leadership, Chairman Nurudeen assured the aspiring National Chairman of the region’s commitment and goodwill toward his organizational goals.

Mr. Agyarko expressed gratitude to the regional executives, council elders, and grassroots structures for the receptive engagement, promising to run a sustained, inclusive stakeholder campaign aimed at revitalizing the party’s foundational core.
