SAFO KANTANKA FAMILY BREAKS SILENCE ON ADWOA SAFO SHOOTING INCIDENT

ACCRA— The family of the late inventor and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, has broken its silence following the alleged shooting incident involving former Minister of State and Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, revealing that internal family communication has hit a brick wall.

The violent development comes at a highly complex time for the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, whose high-profile political career has frequently been shadowed by intense public scrutiny, prolonged absences from the country, and reported friction with both national party leadership and her immediate family structures. For a close-knit, highly visible dynasty like the Safo Kantanka family—celebrated for its massive industrial, religious, and philanthropic footprint in Ghana—to publicly admit they cannot bypass personal assistants to reach their own daughter highlights a stark institutional and personal estrangement that has only heightened public anxiety surrounding the incident.

Speaking on Adom FM’s flagship morning show, Dwaso Nsem, the Secretary to the Safo family, Dr. Philip Siaw Kissi, expressed deep concern over the family’s inability to establish direct contact with the former lawmaker since the targeted attack came to light. Dr. Kissi disclosed that all recent attempts to reach Adwoa Safo directly have been entirely unsuccessful, forcing relatives to navigate a bureaucratic barrier of personal aides and assistants just to get basic welfare updates. He noted on air that it is currently incredibly difficult to reach her, explaining that unless one contacts her assistant, it is nearly impossible to know if she will engage in a conversation, underscoring the severe communication gap that has opened up between the family and their prominent relative.

The remarks follow disturbing reports that gunmen opened fire on Adwoa Safo’s vehicle, an assault that reportedly took place near the residence of her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena. The former minister is currently said to be receiving medical treatment following the targeted ambush. Dr. Kissi clarified that the family was not present at the scene when the shooting occurred and is currently relying heavily on mainstream media accounts to piece together the specific details of the attack.

Despite the noticeable distance and the structural hurdles involved in reaching her, Dr. Kissi affirmed that the family fundamentally stands by her during this critical window and plans to convene an emergency meeting to address the security breach internally. He emphasized that she remains their daughter, meaning any misfortune that befalls her directly impacts the entire family unit. He concluded that as soon as the opportunity arises, they will speak to her directly to ascertain what transpired, as they are currently going to sit down and discuss the matter properly to clear up the facts of the case. The public reaction from the Safo Kantanka family continues to fuel national conversations regarding the lawmaker’s immediate safety and the underlying motives behind the armed assault as security agencies begin investigations.
