The Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has told NPP lawmakers to heavily increase their political pressure on the government, claiming the current administration has lost its popularity much faster than anyone expected.
Speaking at a workshop for Minority MPs, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal District lawmaker stated that the government’s quickly dropping public support has given the minority caucus a perfect opportunity to hold them strictly accountable.
According to Annoh-Dompreh, hard times in the country have left many citizens frustrated, causing the government to lose public approval earlier than expected.
He told his colleague MPs that this is not the time to relax. Instead, the minority caucus must use its numbers and power in Parliament to speak for ordinary Ghanaians and keep the government on its toes.
The Chief Whip made it clear that the minority caucus must stay united and vocal.
He explained that the workshop was organised to give the MPs the best strategies to challenge government policies, show where things are going wrong, and push for better leadership.
“The administration has become unpopular earlier than anticipated,” Annoh-Dompreh told reporters at the event. He added that the minority caucus is fully ready to use every parliamentary rule available to ensure the country is run properly.
With the political atmosphere heating up, this message from the leadership signals that the minority caucus is going to be much more aggressive in Parliament in the coming days.
