The 15-year prison sentence imposed on controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa has been reduced to 12 calendar months by the Amasaman High Court, which ruled that the original punishment was harsh and excessive.

In its judgment, the court upheld her conviction but exercised its discretion to vary the sentence, cutting it down from the 15 years of hard labour earlier imposed by the trial court.

The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025—the date of her conviction—meaning Nana Agradaa will serve a total of 12 months in prison.

The court noted that while the offence warranted punishment, the severity of the original sentence was disproportionate under the circumstances, thereby justifying a downward adjustment.

Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist, was convicted on July 3rd, 2025 on charges of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretense and was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour, a ruling that generated widespread public debate and legal scrutiny.
