WAFCON 2026Q: Black Queens Seal Qualification with 7–0 Aggregate Rout of Egypt

Ghana’s Black Queens have booked their ticket to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco in emphatic style, crushing Egypt 4–0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday to complete a 7–0 aggregate triumph in the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Qualifiers.

Having already won the first leg 3–0 in Cairo, the Queens delivered a confident, attacking display at home to underline their dominance. Doris Boaduwaa was the star of the night, netting a brilliant hat-trick, while Comfort Yeboah celebrated her first-ever international goal to round off the scoreline.

Head Coach Lars Kim Björkegren made two tactical changes from the first leg, introducing Evelyn Badu and Princess Marfo for Alice Kusi and Stella Nyamekye. The adjustment brought fresh energy, as Ghana came close to scoring early — Princess Marfo narrowly missing from a Chantelle Aboagye setup — before Egypt struck the crossbar in a rare counterattack.

The first half ended goalless, but Ghana returned from the break fired up. Boaduwaa broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, capitalizing on a goalkeeping error, before doubling the lead five minutes later after a precise cross from Marfo.

Moments later, Comfort Yeboah made it 3–0, blasting in from a tight angle for her maiden goal in Ghana colours. Boaduwaa then put the icing on the cake in added time, completing her hat-trick from a Stella Nyamekye assist to seal a memorable victory.

The result confirms Ghana’s return to the continental stage as one of Africa’s powerhouses in women’s football — a fitting reward for their consistency and flair throughout the qualifiers.

The Black Queens’ Road to Morocco 2026 continues, and with performances like this, they will be heading to the tournament full of confidence and belief.
