‘You would’ve been jobless without Akufo-Addo’s legacy’ – Fatimatu fires Nii Lante

Former Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, has lambasted the National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, over his past criticism of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government.

According to Fatimatu Abubakar, Nii Lante consistently questioned the legacy of the Akufo-Addo-led administration, yet today, he is a beneficiary of one of the former president’s key initiatives.

She explained that his current appointment under the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was made possible by a programme created during Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s tenure.

We will make sure the DRIP initiative materialises – Local government minister-designate

Without it, she argued, the former Odododiodio MP would have been jobless.

Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on August 24, 2025, Fatimatu said, “Some of the NDC propagandists criticised President Akufo-Addo in everything, including DRIP, yet today Nii Lantey Vanderpuye is happily working there.

“If President Akufo-Addo had not introduced DRIP, by now he would have been jobless. Today, he is enjoying a nice office. Ironically, one of the very people who questioned President Akufo-Addo’s legacies is now living off those same legacies,” she added.
