Afigya Kwabre South Member of Parliament Damata Ama Appianimaa Salam has publicly endorsed Odeneho Kwaku Appiah in his bid to become the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking during Appiah’s “Hope Tour” meeting with constituency executives in Bekwai on Saturday, Salam credited her political advancement to Appiah—popularly known as COKA—highlighting his role as her mentor when he served as constituency chairman.

Salam recalled serving under Appiah’s leadership as constituency women’s organizer and later constituency secretary in Afigya Kwabre South, describing his approach to party leadership as inclusive and decisive.

“If I am where I am today it is because of Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah… He identified my potential and guided me to become who I am today,” Salam told party executives. “He is a decisive leader, he seeks the opinion of others and he is ready to work with anybody with respect.”

The lawmaker pledged to mobilize delegates across the region to secure a decisive victory for Appiah, setting a target of 98 percent support from the constituency delegates.

Appiah, a former Afigya Kwabre South constituency chairman, is currently touring all 47 constituencies in the region to build support ahead of the party’s regional internal elections scheduled for August 15.

The regional leadership contest comes as the Ashanti NPP seeks to rebuild and restructure its executive framework ahead of upcoming national electoral preparations.
