Kwadjo Owusu Bempah, an aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman position in Nhyiaeso, has appealed to members of the Asona Clan to rally behind the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2028 elections, warning that rejecting him would amount to undermining Ghana’s progress.
Speaking to journalists after filing his nomination forms, Bempah argued that Dr. Bawumia shares ancestral and symbolic ties with the Asona Clan, one of the largest and most influential Akan clans. He described the Vice President as embodying the clan’s values of wisdom, diplomacy, intelligence, and leadership.
“Any Asona Clan member who fails to vote for Dr. Bawumia could be viewed as undermining the nation’s progress. To reject him would be to deny Ghana access to our finest human resource, an act that borders on political self-sabotage,” Bempah said.
He cited Bawumia’s role in economic management and digitalisation initiatives as evidence of his wisdom and knowledge, adding that he is a unifying figure capable of bridging ethnic and religious differences.
Beyond national politics, Bempah highlighted his contributions to the Nhyiaeso Constituency and the NPP, including the donation of three Toyota Corolla vehicles and a Nissan pickup truck to support party operations, funding mechanised boreholes for clean water, and overseeing the construction of a modern ICT Centre to enhance digital learning. The ICT facility, he disclosed, would be named after the late Nhyiaeso NPP Chairman, George Kofi Agyei (GeoKad), in recognition of his service.
Outlining his vision, Bempah pledged to transform Nhyiaeso into a self-sustaining socio-political and economic hub if elected chairman. He promised youth empowerment programmes, welfare initiatives for the elderly, and improved access to healthcare and education. He referenced a recent Mother’s Day event where his team supported over 600 constituents with wax prints, financial aid, and other assistance.
“Our goal is to make Nhyiaeso a model constituency — a place where the welfare of every constituent is prioritised, where healthcare and education are accessible to all, and where our youth are empowered to be fiercely independent,” he said.
