Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has expressed confidence in Ghana’s performances at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, praising the team’s ability to compete at the highest level following an impressive start to the tournament.

His comments came during a high-level delegation visit to the team’s camp in Rhode Island on Thursday, where government officials and stakeholders met the squad ahead of their final group fixture.

Ghana began their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama before holding England to a goalless draw in their second Group L match.

The results leave the Black Stars level on four points after two games, with qualification still in sight heading into the final round.

Speaking to the delegation, Ayew commended his teammates for their performances so far.

“We’ve shown that we’re capable of performing at the highest level,” the 34-year-old said.

The visiting delegation included Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

Ghana, who are targeting a place in the Round of 32 for the first time since 2010, will conclude their Group L campaign against Croatia on Saturday, June 27, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The team has since relocated from Rhode Island to Philadelphia ahead of the decisive encounter.
