Former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has endorsed former Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, popularly known as “Sly,” in his bid for the position of General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr Amin Adam announced the endorsement during a courtesy call by Mr Tetteh and his campaign team on Sunday, June 28, 2026, as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the party’s internal elections.

He said his decision was based on confidence in Mr Tetteh’s competence and ability to effectively discharge the responsibilities of the office, stressing that key leadership positions within the party should be occupied by individuals with proven capacity and commitment.

“For me, I support him because I believe he can do the job,” Dr Amin Adam stated.

“We need competent people in key positions to strengthen the party going forward.”

The former Finance Minister also shared his views on the party’s broader leadership structure, indicating support for Paul Afoko in the race for National Chairman as part of what he described as a balanced and strategic leadership team for the NPP.

Mr Tetteh was accompanied by a delegation of former Members of Parliament and former District Chief Executives (DCEs), a move seen as reflecting growing support for his campaign.

Leading the delegation, former Member of Parliament for Tema Central, Yves Hanson-Nortey, described Mr Tetteh as the ideal candidate for the General Secretary position, citing his experience, leadership qualities, and organisational capacity.

According to him, Mr Tetteh possesses the qualities needed to strengthen the party’s administrative machinery and improve its electoral fortunes ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“Sly possesses all the qualities required to lead the party as General Secretary,” Mr Hanson-Nortey said.
