An aspiring General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eugene Boakye Antwi, has taken his campaign to the party’s U.S. branch, urging members to rally behind a reform agenda aimed at reorganising and rebuilding the party ahead of upcoming contests.
Antwi engaged party members in Washington, via virtual meetings across NPP-USA, and in New York between 12 to 17 April, as part of broader consultations with external branches.
He said his “UNITE Agenda” would focus on strengthening internal cohesion, improving grassroots mobilisation and modernising party operations, positioning the role of General Secretary as central to shaping the party’s direction.
“The task ahead is clear, to unite the party, restore trust, and reposition the NPP to win again,” Antwi said during the engagements.
The outreach comes as the NPP seeks to regroup following recent electoral challenges, with internal restructuring expected to play a key role in its strategy.
Leadership of the NPP-USA branch welcomed the engagement, with Chairperson Obaa Yaa Frimpong describing the interaction as well received and commending the clarity of Antwi’s proposals.
External branches of the party, particularly in the United States, have historically played a role in mobilisation and internal reforms, making them a strategic constituency in the party’s reorganisation efforts.
