The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured the family of a Ghanaian student who died under mysterious circumstances in Latvia of the government’s firm commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice.

The deceased, identified as Nana Adjei, reportedly passed away in Latvia, sparking concern among family members and the Ghanaian public. Speaking on the matter, Mr Ablakwa said the government would not relent in demanding transparency and accountability from all parties involved.

He disclosed that a high-level Ghanaian delegation is scheduled to travel to Latvia on January 20 to engage the relevant authorities and closely monitor the ongoing investigations. The delegation will include family representatives and forensic experts to assist in determining the cause of death.

Mr Ablakwa stressed that the probe will be carried out with full international cooperation to guarantee credibility and fairness, adding that the government remains resolute in protecting the rights and dignity of Ghanaians wherever they may be.

He further revealed that President John Dramani Mahama is fully backing the family and has directed that all necessary diplomatic and legal measures be pursued to secure justice. According to the Minister, the safety and welfare of Ghanaians living abroad remain a top priority for the government.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has assured the public that it will continue to engage Latvian authorities and provide regular updates as investigations progress.
