OTI HIGH COURT ADJOURNS NPP KRACHI EAST ORGANISER ELECTION DISPUTE TO OCTOBER

The High Court in the Oti Region has adjourned the long-standing legal dispute surrounding the New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency organizer election in Krachi East to October 2026 for a full hearing.

The court, presided over by his lordship Justice Kwame Osei-Tutu, announced the adjournment following an agreement by counsel for both the plaintiff and the defendants to allow time for additional processes and pre-trial filings to be completed before the court resumes from its upcoming legal vacation.

The legal action was initiated by an aggrieved aspirant following the party’s internal constituency elections, in which the plaintiff challenged the outcome of the organizer contest citing alleged irregularities in the voting process and the qualification of certain delegates.

Counsel for the plaintiff informed the court that while internal resolution channels were previously explored with party leadership in the region, the lack of a conclusive settlement necessitated the continuation of the judicial process to determine the legitimacy of the declaration.

Lawyers representing the NPP constituency executive committee and the declared winner maintained that the election was conducted in full compliance with the party’s guidelines and electoral regulations, requesting the court to dismiss the suit to enable the executive committee to function without hindrance.

Justice Osei-Tutu urged both parties to utilize the adjournment period to properly serve all remaining supplementary affidavits and prepare their written submissions ahead of the October hearing date.
