Kofi Tonto, aide and Deputy spokesperson to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has categorically denied reports circulating online that he described the former Vice President as being surrounded by “greedy and selfish” individuals.

In an exclusive interview with Metro TV, Tonto addressed the false claims, stating that the reports were not only baseless but also a deliberate smear campaign orchestrated by his political opponents.

According to him, these allegations were fabricated and aimed at tarnishing his reputation and that of Dr. Bawumia.

“I have never made such comments, and I challenge any outlet to provide evidence of such statements. This is a deliberate attempt to defame my character,” Tonto said.

“Those who continue to publish such falsehoods are doing so with malicious intent.”

Tonto further emphasized that he has taken legal steps to address the matter.

He urged all media outlets, especially the ones carrying these defamatory claims, to remove them or face potential legal consequences.”This is not just a matter of my personal reputation but also about the integrity of our political discourse. I am calling on these portals to retract these lies, or they will be held accountable,” Tonto added.

On his Facebook, Tonto also debunked the lies, saying, “I made a post to highlight the double standards in our internal politics, and then a lazy journalist/blogger took my post and completely twisted my intent. You sometimes wonder if some of these lazy, click-bait bloggers/journalists actually received a quality education.”
