A form three student at Islamic Senior High School (SHS) in Kumasi, identified only as Abass, has died after falling from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.

Sources within the school indicate that Abass, a Business student and acting Boys’ Prefect, had reportedly been struggling with suicidal thoughts, although the school administration was unaware of any such intentions.

The incident occurred during school hours, drawing the attention of students and staff who rushed to the scene.

Abass was immediately taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Family members, including his mother and uncle, and some students revealed that Abass had previously made remarks about harming himself, though these were dismissed as jokes at the time.

The body has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic tradition.
