DSTV clarifies “Price Reduction” as temporary promotion ending December 2025

ACCRA – Multichoice Ghana, operators of DSTV, has clarified that the recent changes in subscription charges announced by Minister for Communication, Sam George, are not permanent reductions but rather part of a temporary promotional campaign.

The company explained in a release that the offer, which took effect today, October 1, 2025, will run until December 31, 2025.

During this period, active, new, and previously disconnected customers who renew or subscribe will be upgraded to one package higher than the one they pay for at no extra cost.

“This promotion is our gesture to give our customers even more value. It is a way of thanking them for their loyalty and rewarding them with access to the highest package above what they pay for,” DSTV said in its statement.

The packages eligible for the promotion include:

  1. Padi Package: Pay for Padi and get upgraded to Access.
  2. Access Package: Pay for Access and get upgraded to Family.
  3. Family Package: Pay for Family and get upgraded to Compact.
  4. Compact Package: Pay for Compact and get upgraded to Compact Plus.
  5. Compact Plus Package: Pay for Compact Plus and get upgraded to Premium.

This clarification follows widespread reports, fueled by an announcement from the Communication Minister, suggesting that DSTV had permanently slashed its prices for Ghanaian subscribers.

However, the pay-TV provider insists the offer does not represent “a permanent or substantial improvement” but is only a promotional campaign valid for three months.

Multichoice Ghana assured its commitment to delivering premium local and international content, including sports, movies, series, documentaries, and children’s entertainment, but emphasized that the new pricing structure being circulated is promotional and time-bound.
