Nana Akomea, Director of Communications for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign and a senior NPP member, has accused Dr. Arthur Kennedy of disclosing details of a private meeting with the NPP flagbearer after initially complaining that a group photo “leaked” the encounter.
In a social media post on Monday (15 June) Akomea said Kennedy told him he held a 45-minute “one on one” meeting with Dr. Bawumia that was meant to be confidential.
Kennedy, he noted, claimed people around Bawumia made the meeting public by circulating a photo of four people, including Bawumia and Kennedy, taken on Bawumia’s porch.
Akomea questioned how an outdoor group photograph amounted to a disclosure of a one-on-one discussion.
“I can say with every confidence that up till last Saturday when Dr. Kennedy spoke about the meeting, no one knew what was discussed,” he wrote.
He then pointed to Kennedy’s own subsequent disclosure during an interview.
According to Akomea, Kennedy narrated details of the meeting to listeners, including a story about his mother-in-law he said he told Bawumia, and a complaint he made about NPP activist Mr. Abronye. Kennedy also said Bawumia offered “no defense” and “said nothing” in response.
“So here is Dr. Kennedy, lamenting that a picture amounted to leakage of a one on one meeting. Then in the same breath, goes on to narrate some details of the one on one confidential meeting,” Akomea stated.
“So now the whole world knows a meeting took place, that it was one on one, how long it lasted, and some of the things discussed, from the very person complaining about a group picture.”
Akomea added that it was “really good Dr. Bawumia offered no comments on the issues told us by Dr. Kennedy,” saying Bawumia’s confidential responses would otherwise have been made public last Saturday.
