Aspiring presidential candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) seeking to contest the Office of President of the Republic on the party’s ticket in the 2028 general elections will be required to pay an amount of GH¢600,000 in non-refundable nomination and filing fees.

This financial requirement was outlined in a notice issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on July 29, 2025.

According to the official notice, issued pursuant to Article 13(1)(2) of the Constitution of the New Patriotic Party, nominations for the position of the Party’s Presidential Candidate will officially open today, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and will close on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Any member of the party wishing to apply for nomination must first obtain the Nomination Forms after paying a non-refundable Nomination Fee of One Hundred Thousand Cedis (GH¢100,000). This fee must be paid in a Bankers Draft in favour of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.

Following the successful acquisition of the nomination forms, aspiring candidates will then be required to pay a Filing Fee of Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢500,000). This too must be paid in a Bankers Draft, made out to the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.

In addition to these two fees, the notice also states that an Aspiring Presidential Candidate “shall be required to pay a Development Fee as determined by the National Council.” The specific amount for this Development Fee was not disclosed in the notice.
