Leading figures of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have rallied around former Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, following the passing of his father, Naa Puowelle Karbo III, Paramount Chief of the Lawra Traditional Area.

Among those who have paid their respects are NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore Nana Ayew Afriyie, among others.

The party stalwarts visited to commiserate with Mr. Karbo and his family, offering words of comfort and solidarity during the difficult period.

Naa Karbo III is reported to have passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Bank of Ghana Hospital in Accra.

Aged 79, he served as former President of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs and past Vice-President of the National House of Chiefs.
