The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee has announced the successful completion of the nationwide voter album verification and validation exercise ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra, the Committee Chairman, Joseph Osei-Owusu, said the exercise covered all constituencies and external branches of the party.

Mr. Osei-Owusu disclosed that all presidential aspirants will be provided with the provisional voter register on Thursday, November 13, 2025, to allow for two weeks of verification and feedback before finalisation.

“The nationwide voter album verification and validation exercise, encompassing all constituencies and External Branches, has been successfully concluded. In the interest of full transparency and fairness, all aspirants will be furnished with the provisional voter register on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Two weeks will be provided for verification, observations, and feedback before finalising the register,” he stated.

He noted that while minor administrative discrepancies such as wrongly spelt names, omissions, and inaccurate entries were identified, they did not affect the integrity or credibility of the voter register.

“I am pleased to report that all such issues are currently being rectified,” he stated.

He added that the process also confirmed the removal of delegates who had passed away or forfeited their membership in accordance with Article 3(9)(1) of the party’s constitution.

The five aspirants vying for the party’s flagbearer position are former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Food and Agric Minister, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former Press Secretary to former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

The Committee also outlined key measures to ensure transparency and fairness, including exclusive control of election-day security by the Ghana Police Service, strict access control at voting centres, and full oversight of the process by the Electoral Commission (EC).

According to the Committee, the EC will supervise the printing, distribution, and monitoring of ballot papers, as well as enforce operational guidelines to ensure a credible and peaceful election.

The Committee will soon hold a series of meetings with aspirants, the EC, the Police Service, and the party’s National Council of Elders to sign a peace pact ahead of the primaries.

Mr. Osei-Owusu reaffirmed the Committee’s “unflinching dedication to a free, fair, transparent, and credible electoral process, conducted without fear, favour, or bias.”

He urged party members and the media to avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine public confidence in the process, assuring that the Committee will maintain open communication with all stakeholders until the primaries are concluded.

“Together, we will uphold the NPP’s tradition of democratic excellence and institutional discipline,” he said.
