New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang is set to officially submit his nomination forms on Friday, July 17, as he makes another attempt to lead the party as Eastern Regional Chairman.
Mr Boateng-Agyemang, who has already picked and completed his nomination forms, is expected to personally submit them on the final day for filing.
He is contesting under the theme: “Bringing the People Together & Keeping the Hope Alive to Rejuvenate NPP Superiority in the Eastern Region.”
The businessman and consultant, who served as the Eastern Regional Campaign Coordinator for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 presidential campaign, is seeking to lead the party’s regional structure ahead of the next electoral cycle.
This will be Mr Boateng-Agyemang’s second attempt at the Eastern Regional Chairmanship position. He previously contested the May 2022 regional elections but lost to the incumbent, Jeff Konadu Addo.
In that election, Mr Konadu Addo secured 424 votes, while Mr Boateng-Agyemang polled 202 votes.
Before contesting the regional chairmanship position, Mr Boateng-Agyemang served as the New Juaben North Constituency Chairman for three terms. He stepped aside from pursuing a fourth term to contest the regional chairmanship race.
He has also served as the Chairman of Chairmen for the NPP in the Eastern Region for about 12 years and has played key roles in the party’s activities at both constituency and regional levels.
His contributions to the party include serving as campaign coordinator for former New Juaben North Member of Parliament Hackman Owusu-Agyemang during the 2007 elections, as well as Internal and International Relations Manager for the Eastern Region NPP Campaign Team in the 2020 general election.
Following his decision to contest, the Concerned Grassroots of the NPP—Eastern Region have pledged their support for his candidature, describing him as a candidate capable of uniting the party and strengthening its structures in the region.
Mr Boateng-Agyemang has also reportedly received backing from several party stakeholders, including some sitting Members of Parliament and grassroots members who believe his experience and leadership record make him suitable for the position.
Aside from his political activities, Mr Boateng-Agyemang is an entrepreneur and business consultant with business interests in Ghana and abroad.
His supporters say his extensive experience in party organisation, campaign management and private sector leadership positions him to rebuild and maintain the NPP’s dominance in the Eastern Region.
