Petitioner would soon explain how Alan funded V8-fueled campaign – Miracles Aboagye

The Spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has hinted at the possibility of a petition against Movement for Change leader and 2024 presidential candidate, Alan Kyerematen, over his campaign financing.

This follows a petition filed by Solomon Owusu and his legal representatives, which calls for an investigation into Dr. Bawumia’s own public claims of procuring over 300 pickup vehicles for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and raising record sums of money for political campaigns.

The petitioners raise concerns on the source of funding. They contend there was a possible abuse of office, and breaches of Ghana’s political financing laws.

Responding to the petitioners claims in an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story on September 17, Mr. Aboagye said his team is “taking inspiration” from the petition filed against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He posit that the petitioner, Solomon Owusu of the Movement For Change, and his leader, Alan Kyerematen, should equally be ready to account for how they financed their own nationwide campaigns.

“I’m sure in about two or three days, Solomon will be on air explaining how his leader, as an ordinary minister, managed to afford moving across the country with all the V8s and fuel to campaign,” he said.

“I’m sure people are taking inspiration from him [the petitioner],” he added.

The campaign spokesperson also dismissed the petition filed at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) calling for a probe into Dr. Bawumia’s campaign funding, describing it as “just hot air.”
