The Ghana Police Service has urged final year students sitting the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to celebrate responsibly and avoid any form of violence as they prepare to complete their examinations on Friday, 19 June 2026.
In a statement, the police reminded candidates across the country that acts such as vandalism, arson, assault and other unlawful behaviour carry serious criminal consequences that could damage their future prospects and undermine years of academic effort.
The Service warned that it would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any student found engaging in criminal activities after the examinations.
The caution follows two recent incidents of student violence in the Upper East Region that led to the arrest of six students.
At Zebilla Senior High Technical School, two students were arrested in connection with the alleged arson of a teacher’s apartment. At Bawku Senior High School, four students were arrested for alleged involvement in rioting, assaulting school staff and destroying both school and private property.
The police said the incidents highlight the need for students to remain disciplined and law abiding as they mark the end of their secondary school education.
The Service also called on parents, guardians and school authorities to work together to promote discipline, respect and peaceful conduct among students during the period.
The WASSCE is expected to end for final year students on Friday, bringing to a close months of preparation and examinations for thousands of candidates nationwide.
