Prince David Osei slams Mahama over “dumsor”

Actor and NPP sympathiser Prince David Osei has taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama over Ghana’s recurring power challenges, popularly known as dumsor.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the actor stated that the name “Mahama” has become synonymous with persistent power outages in the country.

According to him, from the 2012–2016 power crisis—which severely disrupted homes and businesses nationwide—to the current 2024–2026 period, every tenure of the President has been significantly marked by dumsor.

“Now, it suffices to say that the name Mahama has become synonymous with DUMSOR. From the 2012–2016 power crisis, which crippled homes and businesses nationwide, to 2024–2026, every tenure of President Mahama has been significantly marked and burdened by DUMSOR. But yet, despite this painful history and its well-documented economic and social impact, electricity tariffs are still through the roof.”

He argued that despite the painful history and its well-documented economic and social consequences, electricity tariffs remain excessively high.

“Ghanaians deserve better than this. Please, Mr. President, we deserve better,” he wrote.

His comments add to ongoing public discourse about the country’s energy situation, as concerns grow over power reliability and the cost of electricity.
