Sanitary Pads Contract: Minority questions pricing, value for money, and suppliers

The Minority in Parliament continues to raise concerns over what it has dubbed the “chop-chop sanitary pads contract,” urging the Government to provide further clarification on the pricing and the companies involved.

Speaking through a Member of the Gender and Children Affairs Committee, who also serves as MP for Old Tafo, the Minority insisted that the Government’s explanation of a unit price ranging from GHS 19 to GHS 24 remains untenable.

The Opposition is also probing which companies supplied the sanitary pads and at what cost.

Regarding the GHS 24 million allocation in the 2025 budget, the Minority is demanding an explanation as to why the supplies have not been delivered and the whereabouts of the remaining funds released under the contract.

The Minority’s rebuttal follows the explanation provided in Parliament by Deputy Minister Dr. Clement Apaak on the contract and its associated costs.
