The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Ghana’s Zongo communities, urging the Muslim faithful to keep faith in his leadership and support his bid for the presidency in 2028.

Dr. Bawumia gave the assurance during the grand coronation ceremony of newly enskinned chiefs of the Tema Zongo and Songhai communities held at Tema Newtown in the Greater Accra Region.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was present at the ceremony, delegated former Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Ben Abdallah Banda, to deliver his speech on his behalf.

He reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling promises aimed at improving the lives of Zongo residents if elected president in the 2028 general elections.

“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has done a lot for this country and will make this country better and greater when elected as the President of Ghana. The incoming President is here with his entourage to congratulate you on this grand and historic occasion on your coronation.”

The colourful coronation ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering of religious, political and traditional leaders from across the country.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, traditional rulers, Muslim clerics and community leaders.

The event, led by the National Chief Imam with special Islamic prayers and recitations from the Holy Qur’an, witnessed the enskinment of the President of the Ghana Retired Footballers Welfare Association, Sheikh Mohammed Elias, as Sarkin Samari (Youth Chief) of the Tema Zongo and Songhai communities.
