COURT OF APPEAL ADJOURNS INDEFINITELY RULING ON SEDINA TAMAKLOE-ATTIONU STAY APPLICATION

The Court of Appeal has adjourned indefinitely without ruling on the State’s application for a stay of execution in the appeal involving former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu.

A three-member panel, presided over by Justice Sophia Rosetta Bernasko-Essah, with Justice Dr Ernest Owusu-Dapaa and Justice Ayitey Armah-Tetteh, heard arguments from the State and the defence before retiring to consider its decision.

The judges returned to court about two hours later but informed the parties that they had been unable to reach a decision on the application.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter indefinitely without giving a date for the delivery of its ruling.

The State is seeking a stay of execution pending the determination of the substantive appeal in the corruption case against Tamakloe-Attionu.

The application forms part of ongoing appellate proceedings following her conviction and sentencing by the Accra High Court.

Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted in absentia in April 2024 and sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of several offences, including causing financial loss to the state, stealing and money laundering.

She was extradited from the United States to Ghana in June 2026 following a prolonged legal process and is currently serving her sentence.

The latest development means the Court of Appeal has yet to determine the State’s application, leaving the substantive appeal and related proceedings pending.
