“I didn’t fabricate evidence” – Godfred Dame in rebuttal to Jakpa’s claims

In a 50-point submission to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame has strongly denied allegations by Richard Jakpa that he fabricated evidence in the controversial ambulance procurement trial.

Dame called Jakpa’s accusations “baseless,” “sour grapes,” and “a desperate ploy to obstruct justice.”

He stated he has never fabricated any piece of evidence at trial, nor influenced Jakpa’s testimony.

Regarding a secret recording Jakpa claims to have, Dame says the alleged phone call was misdated: he asserts their conversation occurred on April 9, 2024, not March 26 as Jakpa alleges.

He added that by the time of that call, all prosecution documents had already been filed and tendered.

Dame further characterised Jakpa’s complaint as one born out of resentment. He argued that Jakpa was unhappy after Dame refused to discontinue his prosecution, and that Jakpa’s petition seeks to re-litigate issues already settled by the High Court.

Dame urged that the allegations be dismissed, insisting they stem from “the fertile imagination of Richard Jakpa.”
