Techiman South MP Accuses Mahama of Hypocrisy Over Private Jet Use After Criticizing Akufo-Addo

The Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama for using his brother Ibrahim Mahama’s private jet for official travel, despite vocally opposing former President Akufo-Addo’s use of a private aircraft.

Korsah questioned Mahama’s decision to avoid the government-owned aircraft, which he claimed would have been a more cost-effective option for the state. He pointed out the hypocrisy in Mahama’s actions, suggesting that his refusal to use the aircraft he had once insisted President Akufo-Addo should fly in raises serious questions about the true motivations behind the NDC’s stance on government expenditure.

“So the very aircraft that you insisted that Akufo-Addo sit in as President, you have never sat in since he handed over power to you,” Korsah remarked, highlighting Mahama’s failure to utilize the presidential jet despite earlier criticism of Akufo-Addo’s use of it during his tenure.

Korsah further added, “You insisted it was all ok and him refusing to use it smacks of wastage of our taxes.” The MP suggested that Mahama, upon assuming office, should have at least used the presidential aircraft once to avoid the perception of inconsistency and to uphold the integrity of the NDC.

According to Korsah, Mahama’s actions appear contradictory to his previous criticisms of Akufo-Addo. “Did they just want Akufo-Addo to die because they knew the aircraft was not airworthy, or was the game all about lying for power?” Korsah asked.
