TENSION RISES OVER CLOGSAG OTI REGIONAL ELECTIONS AFTER ASPIRANT’S DISQUALIFICATION

Rising dissatisfaction has hit the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) regional elections in Dambai following the disqualification of a chairmanship candidate and allegations of irregularities regarding the delegates list.

The election committee disqualified chairmanship aspirant Prince Latif Oyekunle over claims that he previously initiated court action against the association regarding disputed double salary payments and an alleged financial withdrawal totaling five hundred thousand cedi.

Oyekunle and supporting delegates criticized the committee for conducting vetting and voting on the same day, arguing that the compressed timeline denied disqualified candidates a fair opportunity to appeal or exhaust internal dispute resolution channels before balloting commenced.

Tensions escalated further after reports surfaced that the names of the CLOGSAG chairman and secretary at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council were omitted from the official voting register without formal explanation.

Concerned union members have called on CLOGSAG’s national leadership to step in, warning that failing to address the procedural lapses risks compromising the election results and dividing the association within the Oti Region.
