CONCERNED NPP-USA MEMBERS DEMAND RELEASE OF ELECTION ALBUM AHEAD OF BRANCH POLLS

A group of concerned members of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) USA Branch has called on the branch leadership to immediately publish the official election album ahead of internal elections, saying delays risk undermining confidence in the party’s electoral process.

In a statement issued eight days before the branch polls, the members said the official voters’ register had not been made available to the membership, describing it as an essential requirement for a credible election.

“With only eight days remaining before the Branch elections, the leadership has yet to release the official election album, a basic requirement for a credible electoral process,” the statement said.

The group argued that the delay had created uncertainty among members and raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the elections.

It also alleged that some chapter elections commenced shortly after midnight without candidates and voters having prior access to the election album, making it impossible to verify the register before voting.

The members further claimed that uncertainty over election procedures had left many delegates confused about the rules governing the process, while registration for the July 24–26 branch conference had slowed because members were unsure whether the conference and its electoral activities would proceed as scheduled.

“These developments do not inspire confidence. They undermine it,” the statement said.

The group also questioned the leadership of NPP-USA Branch Chairperson Obaa Yaa Frimpong, who is seeking election as the party’s National First Vice Chairperson, arguing that those seeking higher office should be judged by their record on transparency, fairness and competence.

It further alleged that the current branch leadership had attempted to prevent some recently relocated members from Ghana from contesting internal positions, but said the party’s National Council later intervened to allow broader participation.

The members said the incident had raised concerns about inclusiveness within the branch.

Questioning the continued delay in publishing the election album, the group asked why members were being expected to “place blind faith in a process whose most fundamental documents remain unavailable only days before the election.”

It called on the branch leadership to immediately release the election album, publish all election rules and procedures, and guarantee what it described as a free, fair, transparent and inclusive election for all qualified members.

The group said the NPP’s commitment to democracy, accountability and the rule of law should be reflected in its internal electoral processes.

“The membership deserves answers. The membership deserves transparency. Above all, the membership deserves elections whose outcome commands confidence because the process itself is beyond reproach,” the statement said.

The NPP-USA Branch leadership had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
