Ghanaians Face Rising Prices of Goods While Govt Boasts Economic Success – Kennedy Osei Nyarko

Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, has raised concerns over the state of Ghana’s economy, warning that the country’s economic growth appears strong only on paper.

In a Facebook post, MP Nyarko said, “Translating the paper economy into real economy has become a challenge for the Government. The more reason why even though inflation and exchange rates are down, prices of goods and services are either at where they were before they took over office or have gone up. It’s not enough to celebrate the paper economy when it cannot be translated into the living standards of the ordinary citizens. It’s the real economy that influences the decision making of the average person.”

Nyarko criticized the John Mahama administration for claiming that Ghana’s economy is performing well, arguing that these claims do not reflect the everyday realities faced by citizens. According to the MP, Ghanaians are struggling with the consistent rise in the prices of goods and commodities across the country.

“The propaganda by the government doesn’t change the fact that it has failed to create jobs and control the price of goods and commodities,” he added.
