The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, has commended the Ghana Police Service for its pivotal role in ensuring a peaceful conduct of the party’s presidential primary election.

Mr Osei Owusu made the remarks when he, together with members of the Committee, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) at the Police Headquarters.

He praised the police for the comprehensive security arrangements put in place and the high level of professionalism demonstrated by officers across the country before, during, and after the primaries.

According to him, the visible police presence, effective coordination, and neutral posture of personnel were instrumental in maintaining calm and boosting public confidence throughout the electoral process.

The IGP expressed gratitude for the visit and the recognition accorded the Service.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property and to supporting democratic processes through dedicated, disciplined, and professional policing.

The meeting, both sides noted, underscored the importance of collaboration between political institutions and security agencies in safeguarding peace and stability during elections.
