Richard Ahiagba, the National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged party members to remain united, disciplined, and focused on holding the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration accountable to the Ghanaian public.

Addressing party communicators and grassroots supporters, Ahiagba emphasized that the opposition’s primary duty is to offer constructive, rigorous oversight of government policies, ensuring that the administration fulfills its campaign promises and respects democratic standards.

Vigilance in Opposition

Ahiagba cautioned NPP members against internal divisions, stressing that a cohesive opposition is essential for maintaining effective parliamentary and public scrutiny over executive decisions.

“Our responsibility as an opposition party is clear,” Ahiagba declared. “We must remain disciplined, speak with one voice, and keep the Mahama government under constant, evidence-based scrutiny to safeguard the interest of Ghanaians.”

He pointed to key economic and governance issues—including fiscal management, state spending, and social sector interventions—as critical areas where the NPP must maintain strong vigilance.

Focus on Grassroots Mobilization

The NPP Communications Director also called on regional and constituency communicators to step up their engagement with voters, ensuring that the party’s alternative policy vision is clearly communicated across the country.

He urged party members to avoid public infighting and channel their energy into grassroots organization, highlighting that a disciplined organizational structure is necessary to challenge the ruling government effectively in upcoming electoral cycles.
