LA ROJA RIOT: SPAIN OUTCLASS FRANCE TO STORM INTO 2026 WORLD CUP FINAL

A masterclass in tactical discipline and possession football has propelled Spain into the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. Luis de la Fuente’s men executed a clinical 2-0 demolition of France at the Dallas Stadium on Tuesday night, rendering one of the tournament’s most feared attacks completely toothless and booking their ticket to football’s ultimate showcase.

The highly anticipated semifinal blockbuster swung decisively in Spain’s favor during an intense first half. The breakthrough arrived in the 22nd minute when French defender Lucas Digne misjudged a high ball, clumsily bringing down the electric Lamine Yamal inside the penalty area. Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up to the spot and calmly sent Mike Maignan the wrong way, recording his historic 30th international goal.

France’s defensive woes worsened just before the half-hour mark when Arsenal powerhouse William Saliba was forced off with a back injury, compelling Didier Deschamps to introduce the inexperienced Maxence Lacroix. Spain ruthlessly exploited this defensive reshuffle, suffocating France in possession and restricting the space available to Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.

Any hopes of a French resurgence were firmly extinguished in the 58th minute. Pedro Porro initiated a breathtaking one-two with playmaker Dani Olmo, slicing through the fractured French midfield before unleashing a clinical, low finish into the bottom corner.

Spain’s rock-solid defensive tandem—featuring 19-year-old sensation Pau Cubarsí alongside veteran Aymeric Laporte—ensured goalkeeper Unai Simón had a relatively quiet evening, successfully preserving La Roja’s sixth clean sheet of the tournament.

With this majestic victory, Spain transitions to the tournament final at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19, where they will face the victor of Wednesday’s mouthwatering clash between England and Argentina. France, meanwhile, must pick up the pieces of their shattered dreams as they head to Miami for the third-place playoff on Saturday.
